Miniature Donkey Information
Raising Quality Miniature Donkeys
They are native to the Mediterranean islands of Sicily and Sardina and other islands of the Mediterranean. They were primarily used as beasts of burden.
They can be your "Buddies" for a long time as their life spans  from 25-45 years!
They measure 36 inches and under (measured at the withers).and weigh usually between 200-450 pounds.
Waiting for a bundle of joy (a foal) to arrive takes, on average, 11 months, 3 weeks, 5 days!
Donkeys are equines and require the same care, yearly vaccinations, worming, and hoof care as their much larger cousins , the horse.
Miniature donkeys are easy keepers and survive on grazing on good quality grass and hay in the winter.  Mine also love a carrot for a special treat.
One of the most endearing aspects of the Miniature donkey, besides it's cute and cuddly appearance, is it's loving and gentle personality.  Each one has their own  distinctive greeting  in the form of a bray (hee-haw ) and many variations!  They are wonderful around children besides adults.
Miniature donkeys are intelligent and love the company of other donkeys;  therefore:  One is a lonely number!  They will demand that you love them and give them much attention!
